Preface

The development of sustainable and environment friendly energy resources has been a high-priority research and policy area. Similarly, the development of drugs and treatments for the aging world population has been another high-priority research and policy area.

There have been two modes of materials development to meet these high-priority research and policy areas: nanomaterials and algal materials.

The development of a wide variety of nanomaterials has facilitated the development of sustainable and environment-friendly energy resources such as solar cells or batteries as well as facilitating the development of drugs and treatments for the aging world population such as nanodrug delivery and nanotreatments for cancer or HIV.

The development of a wide variety of algal materials similarly has facilitated the development of sustainable and environment-friendly energy resources such as algal biodiesel as well as facilitating the development of drugs and treatments for the aging world population such as algal drugs and algal treatments for cancer or HIV.

Ozcan Konur, as both a materials scientist and social scientist by training, has focused on the bibliometric evaluation of the research in these innovative high-priority research areas at the level of the researchers, journals, institutions, countries, and research areas as well as the social implications of the research in these areas.

He has also had extensive research interests in the development of social policies for disadvantaged people on the basis of disability, age, religious beliefs, race, gender, and sexuality at the interface of science and policy.

He has published more than 100 journal papers, book chapters, and conference papers. Among them are more than 30 pioneering studies in bioenergy and biofuels.

He edited a book titled as bioenergy and biofuels authored by the experts in their respective fields to be published by the CRC Press in the early 2018.
